We want to personally welcome you to the Chardon Church website.  We are all about helping you and those in our community to become more like Jesus.  We are more than just a weekly worship gathering place … we are a community that centers on the person and the missions of Jesus Christ.

Our Mission

You can read more about who we are on this website, but to get to know us, check out one of our Sunday worship gatherings.  Our services last about an hour, and we offer both traditional and contemporary styles.  We look forward to meeting you soon.

Sunday Gatherings

On Sunday mornings, the Chardon Church family gathers to worship God together.  During this time we sing praises to God, pray together, hear God’s word taught, and share concerns and praises.  On the first Sunday of each month, we remember Jesus through the act of taking the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion) … and everyone is welcome to the table.  These Sunday gatherings are life-giving and welcoming to all.  For more information, visit Worship. Our main focus is discipleship … that is, growing to be more like Jesus.  Discipleship is central to all we do and we believe it to be important for the whole family.  We offer age specific opportunities for growth for babies through high school.  For more information, check out Kids/Youth Groups.

Common Questions

What are your Sunday services like?

Each Sunday at Chardon Church you’ll find a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with music and a practical, relevant message.  At 8:45 am, our foundation service is held in our Sanctuary, and may include a variety of music from our choir, bell choir, Southern gospel quartet, instruments, grand piano and pipe organ.  At 10:30 am, our modern service is held in Hayden Hall, and includes music from a full contemporary band.  You may dress casual at either service.

What will happen when I visit for the first time?

If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you.  We know that many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” for a while.  But we want to be friendly and meet you.  Come in, enjoy the atmosphere, and see if Chardon Church is for you.  Inside the worship space, in your pew or on your chair, you will find a connection card.  Please take a moment to fill it out.  Don’t worry!  We won’t send an army of saints to “reel you in”.  We simply want to thank you for your visit.

What about my children?

At Chardon Church, your children are a top priority.  Our nursery is safe, clean, and staffed with loving and trained workers.  We offer a fantastic children’s ministry, as well as opportunities for youth in Middle School and High School.  We love to see them grow and serve in a way that will be life-changing.  If you have a child 5th grade or younger, we recommend you arrive a few minutes before service begins and check them into our children’s studies.

Get Connected

For us, everything starts and ends with Jesus.  God created us for relationships – with Him and others.  If you are still figuring out who He is and what that means, our Community Groups are great places to consider and explore.  After all … God created us for relationships – with Him and others.

Service Opportunities

From welcoming others at a Sunday worship gathering to volunteering with us locally or afar, serving with the Chardon Church community is a great way to get involved.  See our current list of Serve Teams and try out a few.

Who We Are

Taking part in any of the above is a great way to find out more about who we are and what we believe.  But sometimes that’s not enough.  So, read on… The people of The United Methodist Church are putting our faith in action by making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, which is our church’s mission.  Through the power of our connection, we are making a positive difference in more than 125 countries.  The United Methodist Church is a 12.3-million-strong global church that opens hearts, opens minds and open doors through active engagement with our world. John Wesley and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action.  This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as “practical divinity” has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.  We invite you to learn more about our rich theological heritage.  Find out more by clicking Who We Are and What We Believe.

Our Facilities

We know that walking into a new building can be hard to “find your way”, and we want to minimize any confusion you may have.  We will gladly direct you to the room you are looking for.  You’ll often find someone that will walk you there.  Throughout the building, we also have signs  that direct you to primary areas of the church and to restrooms. Each class and event article on our website also contains a location hyperlink, that will open a floor map of the facility and highlight where that room is located.  We hope this helps you to find your way.
