DYCRetreat2016

The District Youth Retreat is organized each year by the Western Reserve District Youth Council (DYC).  The trip is open to all youth, grades 6-12 and will be hosted at Camp Asbury, in Hiram, Ohio.  We gather with youth from other United Methodist Churches in the Northeast Ohio area for an incredible weekend of fun, fellowship, and worship.  The young people that come open their hearts and minds to the powerful presence and transformation of the Holy Spirit!  They share with honesty what it is to be human, together and reconciled to God.

Registration cost = $75.   Registration is on a first come basis and is limited to the first 120 participants.  We leave Chardon Church at 4:00 pm on Friday, and return around 2:00 pm on Sunday.

Activities include:

  • Group discussions,
  • Group activities and games,
  • Testimonies from other youth,
  • Worship, including communion.

Attendees should dress for the weather … both indoors and out.  Camp Asbury can be frozen or muddy this time of year.  Please bring indoor and outdoor footwear, as well as something to put muddy shoes into.  This will greatly reduce the amount of cleanup necessary in the bunk houses and common areas.  We will try to accommodate any food allergies but advance notice is preferred and quite frankly necessary.  Meals on Saturday, Sunday breakfast, and Sunday lunch are provided.  Youth are encouraged to bring snacks to share.  Fruits, and veggies seem to disappear faster than the chips, so please consider bringing these healthier options.

Camp Asbury is one of three camp and retreat sites operated by the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.  Camp Asbury’s mission-specific niche is to connect the site, a unique landscape that supports a diversity of northeast Ohio life, with the diversity of a 2.5 million person metropolitan area, and to discover and celebrate signs of God’s presence and activity in the interaction of people and landscape.  To learn more about Camp Asbury, please visit http://news.campasbury.com.
